K-L Soil and Water to celebrate 75th anniversary
The community is invited to Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District’s 75th anniversary and annual banquet celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Our banquet will be held at the beautifully renovated Jewell Lodge overlooking Damariscotta Lake at Camp Wavus in Jefferson.
We are excited to celebrate 75 years of conservation activities in Knox and Lincoln counties with old friends, including past Board members, past conservation award recipients, partner organizations and new friends. Attendees will be treated to a barbecue dinner and delicious pies while viewing a rolling display of photos spanning 75 years. Our speakers will highlight the District conservation activities and future plans in Knox and Lincoln counties. Throughout the evening there will be raffle drawings, a chance to meet our supervisors and staff, and to peruse displays highlighting past and current District projects.
Knox-Lincoln SWCD was recognized for our 75th milestone anniversary by the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce at their annual banquet, received a “Certificate of Special Recognition” on May 20 by Senator Angus King Jr., was awarded the “Non-Profit of the Year 2022” by the Union Area Chamber of Commerce in April. Mark Hedrich, chair of our Board of Supervisors, received national recognition in 2022 for his contributions to the conservation effort when he was inducted into the National Association of Conservation District’s Hall of Distinction, an honor that only eight other individuals hold.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the fee for the evening is only $20 (by mail)/ $22 (online). For planning purposes, please register by Aug. 19, visit https://www.knox-lincoln.org/2022-annual-banquet-75th-anniversary either online or please contact julie@knox-lincoln.org, 207-596-2040.
