End of summer Open Mic at Inn Along the Way Aug. 27
Open Mic celebrating music and verse continues in the big red tie out barn at Inn Along the Way’s, Chapman Farm, 741 Main Street, in Damariscotta, Maine. The sounds and spirit of summer’s end through music, song and spoken word will take place on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Rusty Hinges, Damariscotta Open Mic (DOM), Inn tours and hay field walks is a “by donation” fundraiser for the Inn Along the Way (IAW). The IAW model is a unique and innovative community design in which older adults live interdependently in a neighborhood-style setting of small, environmentally friendly homes. IAW continues to welcome members of the greater community as well as serve those who seek respite and volunteer opportunities in a vibrant community setting.
In traditional Maine coast fashion, community members attending the Inn’s End of Summer lawn and barn party are welcome to bring a picnic. They will be surrounded with an eclectic
Mix of music, song, verse, dance, community fun and laughter. Musicians and performing artists from all genres and generations this is your opportunity to step onto the DOM summer stage. Performer registration begins at 1:00 p.m. .
Rusty Hinges, whose performance will begin at 3 p.m., is a local Midcoast Maine band, playing an eclectic mix of acoustic music from folk music, from sea shanties to fiddle tunes, oldies to bluegrass and original tunes. Members of the band are: Nancy Bridges, violin, guitar, vocals, penny whistle; John Couch, guitar, vocals, harmonica; John Monterisi, guitar, vocals; Dan Townsend, guitar, vocals; and Peter Saladino, electric bass, vocals.
Always fun and never stuffy, listening to Rusty Hinges is like sitting together with friends over a few beers and enjoying the best of American musical traditions.
