It’s that time of year, time to rise and shine, grab a cup of coffee, throw on your best robe and join your friends and family and flock together in Boothbay Harbor for the Early Bird Sale & Pajama Party! It is this Saturday, Nov. 19. If it is not on your home or smart phone calendar, best get it on there. Sales begin at 6 a.m.
That’s right. You all know the Early Bird event is huge. Merchants offer wicked good sales on items sure to be on your holiday gift lists and offer cool door prizes. Sign up for the drawings at each location. And there will be food, but more about that later!
Early Bird morning is just plain fun, the one time you’re encouraged to go shopping in your pajamas! Some early birds wear coordinating pajamas and robes; some wear outrageously fun costumes, like the year students showed up dressed like big, yellow birds (not to be confused with Big Bird); some shoppers throw on fun slippers, show up with their hair in rollers or tucked up inside an old-fashioned sleeping cap. Let’s just say you will see some folks like you’ve never seen them before.
Need to fuel up before or after shopping? Stop by Brady’s on Union Street for its Mimosa (10 flavors offered) Palooza and Pancake Breakfast between 7 and 11 a.m.; Farm 23 on Route 96 is offering $1 coffees all day.
And now for the food! Stephanie Hawke (who could forget her in that slab of bacon costume last year) said there will be food hot off the grill. And the costume? “Well ... first I have to find it,” Hawke said laughing. “I can’t believe it’s Early Bird already.”
Whatever the weather, Early Bird will be here Saturday. Best get your holiday shopping list and pajama party look together! And be sure to check the special Early Bird pages in this week’s edition of the Boothbay Register/Wiscasset Newspaper and the websites for details.
