Lloyd A. Dinsmore
Lloyd A. “Chuck” Dinsmore, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on March 7, 2023 with his loving wife at his side.
Chuck was born on Oct. 28, 1938, in New Haven, Connecticut, the son of the late Alton and Elizabeth Coffin Dinsmore.
At a young age Chuck moved back to Steuben, Maine where he grew up. Chuck attended local schools and was a graduate of Sumner Memorial High School. After high school Chuck joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years. After his time in the service Chuck enrolled at Jacksonville University. During his time in school he worked full time as well and graduated from Jacksonville University in 1968. Later Chuck, with the funds he had acquired from the GI Bill, went on and got his master’s degree from the University of North Florida.
Chuck worked for State Farm Insurance for 40 years first beginning with the company in Jacksonville, with stops in Bloomington, Illinois and finishing in Saratoga Springs, New York. While with State Farm Chuck was able to travel the world both professionally and personally.
His retirement brought him to Maine where he enjoyed working on sports cars, mainly Porsches, playing tennis and pickleball at the YMCA, volunteering at the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library and helping to run the used bookstore for many years.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 55 years Olivia Dinsmore of East Boothbay; stepmother Mildred Dinsmore of Steuben; sister Sally Vidart of Jacksonville, Florida; stepsiblings Elmer, Bruce and Margaret; sisters-in-law Kathi Guy and Marie Smith.
