Sheriff's report
Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On July 4, Deputy Brian Collamore was dispatched to a reported theft of gasoline from a boat tied up to a private dock in the Boothbay area. The complainant stated that sometimes between the previous night and next morning on this date, someone(s) stole approximately $140 worth of gasoline from this boat. Further investigation if leads develop.
Arrests
On July 4, Andrew J. Willis, 21, of St. George was arrested for violating condition of release and operating after license suspension, on Route 1, Edgecomb, by Sgt. Brendan Kane.
On July 5, Samantha A. Edson, 26, of Westport Island was arrested for violating condition of release, at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wiscasset, by Det. Terry Michaud.
Traffic Citation
On July 3, Abigail McLellan, 17, of Boothbay – Speeding 60 mph in a posted 40 mph speed zone – Barters Island Road, Boothbay – Sgt. Jason Nein.
Accidents
On July 2, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Laura K. Wright, 42, of Boothbay and Mark G. Little, 60, of Damariscotta. Little was operating his 2002 Chevrolet S10 northbound on Route 1 and making a left turn onto Station Road. Another vehicle was traveling southbound and making a left turn from Route 1 onto the Dodge Road. While these vehicles were making their turns, Wright passed the vehicle turning onto the Dodge Road on the right side of it and struck the side of Little’s vehicle, which was pulling onto Station Road. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On July 4, an accident occurred on Alna Road in Alna involving Katie L. Hagen, 23, of Whitefield. Hagen was operating her 2002 Pontiac eastbound on Rabbit Path to Route 218 when she failed to stop at a stop sign and traveled across Route 218 and came to rest in the ditch. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On July 5, an accident occurred on Head Tide Road in Alna involving Marjory Whitehurst, 81, of Alna. Whitehurst had pulled her 2000 Dodge over by her residence to allow another vehicle to pass and when she backed up to turn into her driveway, she backed up too far and slid down a steep embankment. Sgt. Alan Shea was the investigating officer.
On July 6, an accident occurred on State Route 129 in South Bristol involving Elijah W. McNeill, 18, of Woolwich. McNeill was operating a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo southbound when he stated he fell asleep. As a result, his vehicle drifted to the right onto the shoulder and struck a telephone pole, causing significant front end damage. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.
On July 7, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Brandon W. Melanson, 27, of Hope and Charles S. Hodgdon III, 34, of Boothbay. Melanson was operating a 2006 Ford ambulance northbound on Wiscasset Road, with his lights and siren on while responding to a medical call. Hodgdon was also traveling northbound in his 2011 Nissan Rogue and was following the ambulance. Melanson slowed and stopped in the roadway and began backing his vehicle up, intending to back into a residential driveway. Hodgdon had stopped behind the ambulance and Melanson backed into Hodgdon’s vehicle. Reserve Deputy Mark Walsh was the investigating officer.
