Larry E Pinkham
Larry Edward Pinkham, 83, of Boothbay died April 8, 2023 at the Hawthorne House in Freeport.
He was born at home in Boothbay Harbor Nov. 17, 1938, son of Gerald Edward Pinkham and Hazel Clifford Pinkham.
Larry grew up in Boothbay Harbor with six brothers and seven sisters. Being from a large family meant a lot to him. There were many softball games, cookouts and trips up north together. He loved going fishing and especially hunting with his brothers.
He married his wife, Susan Wade Pinkham, in 1963. They started a family having two sons, Russell and Anthony. Larry was a longtime commercial harvester, digging sandworms and soft-shell clams. In 1985, they built a clam shucking and buying business together known as Pinkham’s Seafood on River Road in Boothbay. They worked alongside one another for many years supplying clams to local markets and restaurants.
He enjoyed many trips around Alna, Whitefield and Jefferson with Susan and always loved a trip to the north country. With his grandchildren growing up next door, he was always busy with one or the other. He really enjoyed watching them grow up.
Larry’s last few years were spent at the Hawthorne House in Freeport. He was a favorite patient of the nurses there and was rather spoiled. He greatly anticipated his weekly or bi-weekly rides with his brother, Darrel, and would tell the girls he was going to sneak a beer.
Larry was predeceased by his wife, Susan Wade Pinkham, son Anthony Pinkham, and granddaughter Nicole.
Survivors include his son, Russell Pinkham and his wife Catherine and son Nicholas Kilgus; grandchildren Joshua Pinkham of Denver, Colorado, Anna Pinkham of Boothbay, Aleesha Pinkham of Manchester, New Hampshire, Mitchell Pinkham of York, Maine, and Drew Pinkham of Wiscasset.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 20 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Barters Island Road, Boothbay.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.
Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay.
