Summer hours at Skidompha Book Shop
The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in Damariscotta, which is usually closed on Sundays, is now open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday in July and August.
The experiment with summer Sunday hours began in 2011. The new hours were popular with customers and volunteer shopkeepers, so the practice has continued.
The shop is a major fundraiser for Skidompha Public Library. It offers paperback and hard-cover books in dozens of categories for adults and children, as well as puzzles, music, and movies. Gift certificates are available.
All items are donated, the shop is run entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds support the library. Donations are accepted whenever the shop is open.
The book shop is located in the “Red Barn” on Elm Street, just up the hill from the library’s back door. Besides summer Sundays, it’s open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., all year except in January, when it’s closed.
For more information, phone the shop at 207-563-7807, or visit its page on the library’s website, www.skidompha.org.
