Stevens advises on hand, foot and mouth cases at middle school
The middle school has had “several confirmed cases of hand, foot and mouth,” Wiscasset Middle High School Principal Gina Stevens stated in a letter posted at wiscassetschools.org Wednesday afternoon, June 14.
The letter reads in part, “This virus is typically harmless but very contagious. It is spread through close personal contact or touching contaminated surfaces then putting your hands in your mouth.
“Symptoms include fever, blisters in and around the mouth and skin rash typically on the hands and feet.
“Please keep your son/daughter home until they are fever free and blisters have healed.
“Thank you.”
