Alan D. Burke
Alan Delafield Burke, born Aug. 21, 1930, passed away peacefully at his home in California on June 12, 2023.
Alan was born and raised in Newton Centre, Massachusetts. He graduated from Newton High School and Worchester Polytechnic Institute.
Alan relocated to California to take a job as an aerospace engineer at Rockwell International where he spent his entire career.
He was married to Virginia Bigelow for almost 66 years.
He is survived by his wife “Ginny,” son Alan Jr., daughter Elizabeth, grandsons Alexander and Zachary, and a great-granddaughter Talulah.
For 25 summers, he and his wife lived in Boothbay. Alan was an active member of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club and JPVIS. Alan and Ginny were active members of All Saints by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Southport, where donations in his memory may be made to the Outreach Committee.
He was an avid tennis player, having played almost his whole life. He enjoyed golf, hiking, camping, mountain climbing, woodworking, boating and being with his family.
