Wiscasset’s CEO resigns
Wiscasset’s code enforcement officer of five years has resigned. Bruce Mullins’ resignation letter, which Town Manager Dennis Simmons provided at Wiscasset Newspaper’s request, is dated July 16 and notes Mullins and Simmons spoke Saturday, July 15.
Mullins became CEO in summer 2018, according to Wiscasset Newspaper files. The resignation comes days after after Mullins agreed to two protection from harassment orders in Wiscasset District Court. Judge Sarah Gilbert’s orders note the parties agreed to them and they were made “without findings of harassment.”
The plaintiffs in the separate orders, Nicholas West and Ryan Morse, had each tried unsuccessfully last month to get protection from harassment orders against Mullins stemming from issues they said he was raising with a camper. Judge John Martin’s June 13 denials of the requests each cite insufficient evidence the plaintiff or his property was in immediate danger from Mullins.
Reached by phone July 21, Mullins declined comment on the court matters or on his resignation.
The town is advertising for a CEO. Responding to email questions, Simmons said Greg Lumbert is assisting with building permits and plumbing inspections, and third party inspectors will do building inspections.
