Maine Artists Gallery call for artists 'llustrated Passages'
Humans were telling stories by drawing images on cave walls long before writing them down on stone tablets. When man finally began to write things down, images in the form of illustrations were introduced to enhance the written words.
The artist has the advantage of being able to elicit an immediate visceral response with a single glance by the viewer and, once engaged, the viewer can explore and interpret the nuances of the artwork.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but what if you combine words and pictures. The popular exhibit, 'Illustrated Passages,' will be juried by artist and author Sandra Dutton.
The deadline for submissions is August 10, selection will be on August 11. Entries are now open at www.maineartgallery.org.
