The August Members Show downstairs and upstairs: In the Harbor View Room - Pemaquid artist Marcia Brandwein’s show “Great Outdoors” and in Gallery One - Suzanne Marinell, long-time Squirrel Islander, has watercolors and melted-crayon works entitled “Contemplations of Maine.” Our Open House is from 5 to 7 p.m.

New show: ‘Bloom.’ A Celebrating the art of the Flower.” - new work by Lynne Seitzer. First Friday reception 5-7 p.m. Said Lynne: "Throughout history flowers have played an important role in human culture. Flowers are woven into the fabric of medicine, cooking, hygiene, embalming, folklore, symbols and environmental enhancement. The early shipping and importing trades in flowers, vegetables and spices shaped many aspects of the worlds history. On a personal level, the love of flowers is a bond that connects and unifies those who find solace in them. Flowers are a source of pleasure, sustenance and healing. This is why flowers are and continue to an important aspect of the world of art.”

Studio 53 is hosting a First Friday reception from 3 to 7 p.m., an hour earlier than usual to accommodate folks who may be attending the Land Trust’s Art Auction later that evening. Our featured artist for August is Jack Silverio. Jack is a retired architect who has carried over his interest in classical architectural proportions in to his current 2 and 3 dimensional fine art creations. Stop by, meet Jack and see his splendid work. Complementary refreshments will be served.
