Auditions! For Lincoln County Communiy Theater’s 2023-24 season on Monday, Aug. 7 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Skidompha Library’s Porter Hall. The 2023-24 season will include a Fall play with production dates planned for November 10-12, 17-19, as well as a spring musical with production dates planned for May 3- 5.  For those auditioning for a play, cold reading sides will be provided. You can prepare an audition piece, such as a monologue, but it is not required. Those auditioning for the musical are asked to bring sheet music for a selection or two of your choice. “The Miracle Club” -  (PG-13; 1 hour, 31 minutes) - Maggie Smith, Kathy Bates, and Laura Linney, star in this heartwarming film that follows the story of three generations of close friends who have one tantalizing dream: to win a pilgrimage to the sacred French town of Lourdes. The women set out on a journey that they hope will change their lives, but old wounds reopen along the way, forcing the women to confront their pasts as they travel in search of a miracle. Their shared traumas can only be healed by the curative power of love and friendship. Final show Thursday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m.

“Damariscotta River - The Oyster Capitol of Maine” - Talking Aquaculture in Maine - Free! -  Since the glaciers receded from Maine, oysters have had a place in the Damariscotta River. Its famous shell mounds are a testament to this long history and the connection to the river held by the Nanrantsouak of the N’dakina and larger Wabanaki populations. Join Damariscotta resident Sam Belknap of the Island Institute for a journey through the river’s environmental and cultural history. Learn about the history of the river and what makes it so special from Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust’s Director of Education and Citizen Science, Sarah Gladu. Hear from Jeff “Smokey” McKeen, folklorist and co-founder of Pemaquid Oyster Company, about the birth of aquaculture in the river and the example it has set for the State of Maine. And hear from restauranteur, entrepreneur, and oyster farmer, Brendan Parsons, about what drew him to the river and how his business highlights the region’s growers. Thursday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m.

“Asteroid City”- (PG-13; 1 hour, 45 minutes) - The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events. Directed by Wes Anderson. The all star cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie and Jeff Goldblum. Playing at 2 and 4 p.m. on Friday Aug 4, Saturday, Aug 5 and and Wednesday, Aug. 9; and Sunday, Aug. 6 at Noon - note early start time.

“Goddess” - 2023 Salt Bay Chamberfest’s 2023 Chamber Music Festival: “Goddess.” Tuesday, Aug. 8, Friday, Aug. 11, Tuesday, Aug. 15, and Saturday, Aug. 19. All Festival Concerts begin at 7:30 pm and Pre-concert lectures begin at 6:30 pm. Season Subscriptions are available for $150 which includes admission to all four evening concerts and pre-concert lectures. Single Concert Tickets are $40 General Admission, $25 First-time attendee, and Free for Students. Ticket prices Includes admission to concert and pre-concert lecture. National Theatre Live: “Fleabag” -  (3 hours) - Written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve) and directed by Vicky Jones, Fleabag is a rip-roaring look at some sort of woman living her sort of life. Following a box-office record-breaking run in cinemas in 2019, the one-woman show returns to cinemas to the big screen this summer. 2 screening only. Thu Aug 10 at 2 PM and 7 PM. Tickets: $15 Adult, $13 LT Member, $5 Youth 18 and under.
