‘Coyote and the Boy, Ben’ : A marionette show for the family
A unique experience awaits all who attend the “Coyote and the Boy, Ben” marionette show at Midcoast Conservancy’s Hidden Valley Nature Center, 131 Egypt Road in Jefferson on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. This is a marionette show about the wonderful relationships in our lives….and in the lives of the wild ones who share our planet with us.
This is a story of a Mother Coyote searching for her little pup who has run off to play with a butterfly, and a boy called Ben who finds himself in the forest after joyfully following a bunny. Attendees will find themselves immersed in their touching and unforgettable meeting. Native Peoples’ oral histories passed down stories similar to this regarding Coyote’s benevolence toward them.
The performance is put on by the Song Dog Puppeteers. All marionettes and stage created by artist Melissa Glendinning, original music composed by Elizabeth Starr, and performed by Maine musicians.
Attending children will also have the opportunity to create their own coyote mask to take home. The event is free but registration is required and capacity is limited. To sign up, go to https://www.midcoastconservancy.org/events-list/coyote-and-the-boy-ben.
