Wiscasset Garden Club to hold evening meeting

The Garden Club of Wiscasset will have an evening meeting on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. It is hoped that this time period can accommodate those garden club members and interested others who work to be able to attend.
The meeting will be held in Fellowship Hall of First Congregational Church, 28 High St., Wiscasset. There is a brief business meeting at 6:30 p.m.
The presenter is Nick Lund, Maine Audubon’s outreach manager, who will speak on “The State of Maine’s Loons.” Lund is the author of a regular column in the Portland Phoenix and two recent books, “The Ultimate Biography of Earth” and “The American Birding Association Field Guide to the Birds of Maine.”
Maine Audubon has been studying Maine’s loons for 40 years. The program will address what we have learned about these beautiful birds and what we’re doing to protect them.
Refreshments will be available and the public is invited free of charge.
