This week at the Lincoln Theater
This weekend brings us Friday the 13th. What better film to hit the big screen than “The Origin of Evil,” a delicious family-fortune thriller from award winning French director, Sébastien Marnier. One of the New York Times’ Critic’s Picks for this fall, “The Origin of Evil” is a “Succession” meets “Clue” by the French seaside kind of thriller, where no one is who the seem.
“My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” - (PG-13; 1 hour, 31 minutes) - From writer and director Nia Vardalos, the worldwide phenomenon My Big Fat Greek Wedding is coming back to theaters with a brand-new adventure. Join the Portokalos family as they travel to a family reunion in Greece for a heartwarming and hilarious trip full of love, twists and turns. Opa! Final showtime: Thursday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m.
“Titian: The Empire of Color” - Great Art on Screen – (1 hour, 28 minutes) - Winning over popes and emperors with his iconic, revolutionary works Titian succeeded in becoming one of the artists that symbolized the entire Renaissance. He an extraordinary master of color and a brilliant entrepreneur, innovative both in a painting’s composition but also in how to sell it. In only a few years, Tiziano Vecellio became the official painter of Venice and the utmost artist sought after by the richest and most influential Courts in Europe, always abiding by his motto: ‘Art is more powerful than Nature.’ Two screenings only, Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. Tickets: $15 adult, $13 member, $5 youth.
“The Origin of Evil” - (R; 2 hours, 3 minutes - French with English subtitles) - When a long-abandoned daughter gets in touch with a wealthy patriarch, his immediate family are none too thrilled. As she embarks on an extended visit in hopes of getting to know him, she also becomes entangled with the hostile women who share a tense existence in his beautifully appointed mansion by the sea. But she is a confident liar with secrets of her own in this wildly entertaining thriller that will keep you guessing all the way to the end. Playing Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2 and 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 2 and 7 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 19 at 1 (note early start time) and 7 p.m.
Y Arts presents: “The Music Man Jr.” - Master showman Harold Hill is in town and he’s got “seventy-six trombones” in tow. Can upright, uptight Marian, the town librarian, resist his powerful allure? The story follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize. The catch? He doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, whose belief in Harold’s power just might help him succeed in the end in spite of himself. Shows are at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 and Friday, Oct. 20. Tickets: $5 general admission.
