St. Philip’s Thanksgiving food distribution Nov. 16
St. Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf (HYS), 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset, will be holding its Thanksgiving distribution on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Anyone planning to access the components of a Thanksgiving meal from HYS should come to St. Philip’s to receive the Thanksgiving meal bag plus a Shaw’s gift certificate to purchase their turkey, ham, or other items.
Thanks to generous donations from Wiscasset Rod and Gun Club, the American Legion Post, the Wiscasset Female Charitable Society, First Congregational Church, The First National Bank, Camden National Bank, those who donate their returnable bottles at Wiscasset Transfer Station, and others, HYS is able to help our neighbors celebrate and give thanks.
This opportunity is open to HYS’s participants, as well as those unaffiliated who need some help at this time. Distribution of the Thanksgiving bags will take place outside in St. Philip's parking lot on Hodge Street. Patrons are asked to line up on Hodge Street. A volunteer will check you in and give you further instructions.
The following week, Thanksgiving week, HYS will be open on Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. People are able to access their weekly box at that time. Christmas meal bags will be distributed on Thursday, Dec. 21 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
As per HYS policy, those unable to attend the Shelf during open times should contact St. Philip’s at 882-7184, leaving a message and a return number, email helpyourselfsheflf@gmail.com, or message the HYS Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ to coordinate an alternate pick up.
