Mat Kearney with special guest Jon McLaughlin
The Waldo is excited to bring acclaimed singer-songwriter Mat Kearney to the stage Wednesday, Nov.15 at 7 p.m. with special guest, Jon McLaughlin. Nashville-based, Oregon-born Mat Kearney is back with his new studio album, “January Flower.”
Written between an isolated retreat in Joshua Tree and his home studio, “January Flower” sees Kearney in his rawest form, distilling the songwriting process and rediscovering the joy of making music.
Over his career, Kearney has released five studio LPs, claimed the #1 spot on iTunes, topped multiple Billboard charts, made four entries into the Hot 100, and amassed over 2.5 billion global streams. Kearney, a multi-platinum songwriter and producer, has performed live on the “TODAY Show,” “Ellen,” “The Tonight Show,” “Letterman,” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” He has garnered raves from USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, People, Billboard, PARADE and Marie Claire.
He’s played shows with Billy Joel, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, John Mayer, and NEED TO BREATHE; collaborated with longtime friend Sara Bareilles, co-written with Demi Lovato, and even performed at the Academy Awards in 2008.
Everything in Jon McLaughlin’s life makes its way into his music, whether he’s conscious of it or not. The artist, raised in Indiana and based in Nashville, brings all of his experiences and beliefs into each song he creates. Jon has released six full- length albums since his 2007 debut, “Indiana,” on Island Def Jam, revealing a true evolution in both his piano playing and singing. As with everything he does, Jon’s goal is to create connections. He wants to translate his experiences and ideas into music that reaches fans everywhere. His passion for music and playing is evident in each note he plays.
