‘Love Finds Judy Garland’ at Camden Opera House
The Camden Opera House presents “Love Finds Judy Garland,” a musical love letter by New York City vocalist Joan Ellison, Saturday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. The concert also features Shane Schag on piano and Nora Willauer on cello.
“Ellison and Michael Feinstein restored Judy Garland’s original orchestral arrangements for the Judy Garland Heirs Trust, so she brings musical authenticity and a life-long love of Garland to the stage,” said Camden Opera House, in a news release. ‘Love Finds Judy Garland’ offers a trolley ride through the beloved actress and singer’s life, from her MGM swing-singing days to her sold-out, take-no-prisoners concerts around the globe.”
The evening, which honors Garland’s genius and her path to true love, includes “The Trolley Song,” “Over the Rainbow,” “Just in Time,” “If Love Were All,” “The Boy Next Door,” “I Got Rhythm,” “By Myself,” “The Man That Got Away,” “The Palace Medley,” and “Get Happy.”
Schrag and Willauer (who grew up on the Midcoast) have performed this trio program with Ellison for the past two years.
The Nov. 18 performance at the Camden Opera House is sponsored by The Elms of Camden and 40 Paper.
Choose-your-own reserved seat tickets are $35 in advance and will be $45 day of show via camdenoperahouse.com.
