Wiscasset firefighters responded to Treats on Main Street after a gas leak started a fire under a kitchen stove, Wiscasset Fire Chief T.J. Merry said. The fire went out when the gas was shut off, Merry said.
Firefighters did not have to use water at the scene of the mid-afternoon call on July 26, Merry said. Some maintainance work had apparently been done earlier in the area where the leak occurred, he said.
The Alna Fire Department was also called out but the request was cancelled shortly after, Merry said.
Treats sells baked goods and other specialty foods.
