‘Night & Day’ new show at River Arts
River Arts Gallery in Damariscotta announces the opening of “Night & Day” juried by artist, Phoebe Bly, of Tenants Harbor. Faced with the challenging task of selecting from 131 entries by 95 submitting artists, Bly included 80 pieces of art by 69 artists. Bly expressed it was a lovely opportunity to select a body of work for “Night & Day.”
Bly was struck by the light and optimistic tone of the work even in those pertaining to night and is pleased with the uplifting feel the show portrays.
“Night & Day” showcases the creative nature of Maine’s artists. Stepping up to the challenge, the artists have created a wide array of works full of whimsy, daring narrative and elegant, elemental works. The complete list of accepted works is published on the River Arts website: riverartsme.org and River Arts’ Facebook page.
The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, March 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be provided as well as the opportunity to meet many artists. “Night & Day” will run through April 6.
Simultaneously, River Arts is featuring three artists in the River Room with an opening reception Saturday, March 2 from 2 to 4. Judy Nixon, Helen Warner, and Colleen White have works on display in their show titled, “3 Artists/ Eclectic Styles.” These three artists are some of the many volunteers at River Arts whose dedication and hard work make the organization the success it is.
