Call for member art; artists encouraged to join the Maine Art Gallery
“All artists have some kind of story to tell about a teacher or mentor whose methods, influence and work contributed to their personal development and maturity as artists,” says noted artist, author and teacher David Dewey in reference to the Maine Art Gallery’s upcoming show, “Generations: Legacy of Mentors 2024.” Dewey, who will jury the art, noted that the artists selected for this show will share their stories about significant artist-teachers and mentors who made critical contributions to their personal and artist development.
“Generations: Legacy of Mentors” contains two components; the first features Maine Art Gallery "generations" artists from the 1950s and 60s, and the influence those artists had on an invited younger group of artists. The second component consists of a juried exhibit of Maine Art Gallery (MAG) member artists along with statements that describe their mentors and the influences on their current work.
