GCW’s annual plant sale in Wiscasset May 11
The Garden Club of Wiscasset will hold its annual plant sale on Saturday, May 11 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Wiscasset Municipal Building at the corner of Routes 1 and 27.
It is an outdoor-only sale. Cash, checks, or credit cards will be accepted. The Garden Club is known for healthy. vigorous plants at reasonable prices and gathered from members’ gardens and other reputable area gardens. There will be shrubs and perennials, including hybrid day lilies and peonies. It is a great opportunity to find that special something for Mother’s Day.
The plant sale is the major fundraiser for the Club supporting both scholarships and beautification projects. Scholarships are provided to high school seniors from surrounding communities pursuing a higher education in horticulture or related studies. Members maintain or help maintain the Coastal Cancer Treatment Center Serenity Garden in Bath, the Pownalborough Courthouse Garden in Dresden and, in Wiscasset, the Nickels-Sortwell House, the town’s Sunken Garden and gardens at Wiscasset Public Library as well as the Wiscasset triangles.
Once again there will be a Children’s Table to inspire young gardeners. There will also be a bake sale of homemade goodies.
