BRAF holds silent auction of Plummer painting
During the month of August through September 6, the Boothbay Region Art Foundation is holding a silent auction with bids being accepted during regular gallery hours at 1 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor.
The piece to be auctioned is an original watercolor, “Back Narrows,” by Carlton Plummer, one of a series of studies done for a recent commission. He is donating 100 percent of the proceeds to BRAF's ongoing Scholarship Fund, which is awarded every year to a student pursuing higher education in the field of visual arts.
Carlton and his wife, Joan (who previously donated one of her watercolors to benefit the fund), are celebrating 51 years of working together, developing their home, family and professional careers.
Their home and gallery location on King Phillips Trail in East Boothbay is testimony to many years of landscape work using the artists’ vision for composition and design.
Taking their cues from the unique nature of Maine’s rock-bound coast, the Plummers have created gardens, pools, pathways and stone wall additions that are expressions of both art and nature.
The winning bid for the “Back Narrows” watercolor will be announced at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, during the foundation's First Friday Open House.
