Write it down
I don’t know if it is my age or whether it is an avalanche of things I want (or need) to get done, but I took a couple of hours on Sunday to write down a list of “things” to accomplish in the next few weeks.
Doing this task helps me not to forget and to motivate me to get out of the recliner or desk chair. Maybe I can keep from being lazy if I have that list handy.
One thing popped up on Sunday which prevented me from accomplishing one thing on my list – mowing the lawn. Our clothes dryer was not drying well so I took the time to clean the lint out of the exhaust tube and outside vent. I probably could have mowed before dinner but I left it for a day later on my list. The dryer, for now, is acting normally.
We have been doing a lot of work on our house (thank you, son-in-law Robbie for your knowledge and help) so the spring and summer – weekends, mostly – have been busy. The work will continue into the fall and winter so I have found it necessary to get the next steps down on paper – before I have to spend a couple of weekends clearing my lawn of the mountain of leaves that fall in November. Last year, I got about 3/4s of the leaves up and moved to the convenient gully I have on my property before the weekends of rain and snow. The leftovers are still behind my house and perhaps I will get to them before the next batch falls.
Also on my list are work-related jobs, family events, and days for enjoying ourselves. That first day of enjoyment will hopefully be Labor Day after a weekend of working in and around the house.
Hope you all can enjoy a day off on Labor Day, Sept. 2.
