Music at the Meetinghouse
Historic Alna, a 501(c)(3) organization created to help support the maintenance, preservation, and restoration of Alna’s rich historical heritage, will celebrate completing recent repairs and repainting of Alna’s 1789 meetinghouse by sponsoring “Music at the Meetinghouse” on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 5 p.m.
Darryn Petersen, David Stimson and Tamora Goltz have been active in the Maine Irish music scene since the early 1980s, playing together in various band incarnations for concerts and dances. They share an interest in the great dance music traditions of Ireland played on flute, fiddle, concertina, whistle, uilleann pipes, and guitar.
“This performance is particularly special for us because Darryn, whose professional work involves restoration carpentry, has been caring for and maintaining Alna’s historic buildings for decades. This will be an opportunity for the community to appreciate different aspects of his craft and artistry,” said Historic Alna Treasurer, Ed Pentaleri.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. No charge for admission, but donations to support Alna’s historic buildings will be gratefully accepted. For more information about Alna’s historic buildings, or to make a donation, please visit historicalna.org.
