Withdrawal vote today in Wiscasset
It’s time, Wiscasset.
Today’s the day the town decides if it stays or if it goes from Regional School Unit 12. Get out to vote at the Wiscasset Community Center from 8 a.m.to 8 p.m.
The phrase “every vote counts” takes on added meaning in the withdrawal vote: The state is requiring at least 833 ballots to be cast in order for a majority yes vote to trigger a pullout.
Absentee voting has already gotten the town part of the way. Wiscassset Town Clerk Christine Wolfe said November 4 that 297 absentee ballots had been issued; of those, 233 had already been turned in, Wolfe said.
Completed absentee ballots can be turned in during the day today at the town office, or from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Community Center.
