Local artist Donald Demers will be featured at the Vose Galleries in Boston from November 16 to December 28.

The exhibition is called “Wandering the Coast.”

“We are pleased to present 25 new works by one of America's top tier seascape and marine artists, Don Demers,” a release from the gallery stated.

“‘Wandering the Coast’ will underscore the artist's mastery of portraying the pattern of sunlight and shadow on his subject matter, invoking, besides the visual, the other senses of sound, scent and even touch.

“Demers' work has a timeless quality, reminiscent of the great marine painters of the 19th century - Lane, Bricher, Richards - and his warm chiaroscuro calls to mind the early American Impressionists. Although many artists paint the sea, only the elite few have gone to such lengths as Demers to establish an almost instinctual sense of his subject.”
