Possible contests shaping up for Wiscasset school panel
Days before nomination papers were due for Wiscasset's new school committee, all five seats had drawn interest from potential candidates.
As of December 2, two people had taken out papers for the term that will expire first, in June 2014, Town Clerk Christine Wolfe said; three people had taken out papers for the two seats with terms expiring in June 2015; and five people had papers out on the two seats with the longest terms, ending in June 2016.
Papers are due in to the town office by 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5.
Wolfe expects absentee ballots for the January 7 election to be available starting Monday, Dec. 9.
Wiscasset residents voted November 5 to leave Regional School Unit 12.
