New documentary 'Bad Faith' at Lincoln Theater
A new award-winning documentary on the origins and rise of right-wing extremism in America will be shown on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta. The screening of “Bad Faith: Christian Nationalism’s Unholy War On Democracy” is open to the public free of charge and is sponsored by the Midcoast Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
Directed by Stephen Ujlaki and co-directed by Chris Jones, “Bad Faith” identifies the origins of what is today called Christian Nationalism, an intentional misnomer created to suggest that the movement is rooted in religion rather than politics.
Part archival chronicle, part exposé, “Bad Faith” investigates the rise of Christian Nationalism. The movement, once on the fringes of Christian conservative thought, has surged to the forefront of American politics, driven by the belief in establishing a theocratic rule that aligns with its interpretation of Christian values. Through interviews with religious leaders, historians, investigative journalists, and political veterans, “Bad Faith” explores how this ideology has become a formidable political force in the nation.
