BBH Opera House: Italian guitarist Beppe Gambetta
Beppe Gambetta is a guitarist, vocalist, composer and researcher and from Genoa, Italy whose concerts bring European and American Roots together. He’s recorded and worked closely over the years with guitar legend Dan Crary, Gene Parsons (of The Byrds), Dave Grisman, Tim O’Brien and a number of luminaries from the U.S. Roots music roster. On Saturday, Jan. 18, this internationally renowned musician comes to Maine to perform at the historic Boothbay Harbor Opera House.
Gambetta’s music weaves together his American influences with his Italian heritage. In 1993 he was awarded Genoa’s Ambassador to the World by Genoa Mayor Marco Bucci citing the “countless bridges he’s built between Genoa and the Americas, combining the rich culture of his hometown with the beauty of American Roots music.” Audiences can expect both familiar a familiar American roots, bluegrass sound at times, with bits of jazz, mesmerizing guitar picking and an entirely new sound all at the same time.
