Patrick L. Murphy
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patrick Lancefield Murphy, aged 77, who departed this life on Jan. 9, 2025, at his beloved home in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, surrounded by the love of his wife, Jane Murphy.
Born on March 27, 1947, in Bath, Maine, to Herbert and Alice (Smith) Murphy, Patrick grew up in Wiscasset, where he forged lasting connections and created treasured memories.
A proud and dedicated member of the community, Patrick devoted over 33 years of his life to Bath Iron Works, where he served diligently before retiring in 2013. His commitment extended beyond his work, as he took on the role of AFL-CIO Local 6 President for 5 1/2 years, advocating for his fellow workers with passion and integrity. His commitment to his work and community exemplified his strong work ethic and passionate spirit.
A faithful member of the Bible Baptist Church in Wiscasset since 1977, Patrick's faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through every challenge and triumph. His gentle spirit and unwavering kindness left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
Patrick was a man of the woods, finding joy in hunting and the great outdoors. In his retirement, Patrick and his wife Jane moved to Boothbay Harbor, where he cherished daily walks to the waterfront and exploring nature preserves, fully immersing himself in the beauty that surrounded him.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Jane; his children Patrick H. D. Murphy of Boothbay Harbor; June M. Thompson of Brevard, North Carolina; grandson Patrick M. Murphy of Palmyra; nieces and nephews Herbert Murphy of Boothbay Harbor, Michelle Zonneveld of Lacey, Washington, Daniel Murphy of Edgecomb, Mark Murphy of Bristol, and Caitlin Hamner of Martin, Georgia.
A funeral service to honor Patrick's life will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church in Wiscasset, followed by a burial at the Alna Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his legacy and share their memories as we come together in this time of remembrance.
He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and the community he served with dedication and love.
