Phoenix McLaughlin, Director of Strategy Implementation at the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, will update Camden Rotary Club members and guests on Maine’s 2020 – 2029 Economic Development Strategy at noon on Tuesday, January 28.

McLaughlin manages numerous Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan initiatives in addition to the economic development strategy. He previously led the Department’s business incentives programs, including developing the Dirigo Business Incentives program, and worked on legislative affairs. He also managed special projects for the Commissioner and the Office of Business Development, including creating the Maine Forest Bioproducts Advanced Manufacturing Tech Hub.

He received a B.A. in International Political Economy from Colorado College and a Master’s in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. His talk is among many hosted by the Club as part of a series focused on economic and workforce development. The State’s former Director of Economic Development Coordination, Martha Bentley, introduced the Club to the strategy’s aims in 2020.

Camden Rotary Club, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in April, helps the community through charitable grants, scholarship distribution, and service projects. It meets every Tuesday at First Congregational Church, Camden. Visitors are welcome in person and via Zoom.
