River Arts' 'Love' show runs through April 5
River Arts is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibition celebrating “Love.” Artists from across Maine answered the call: What do you love? What makes your heart sing? This uplifting and impressive show celebrates love in its many myriads and interpretations as it both whispers and shouts from the rooftops that love is an ever present force.
The exhibiting artists captured their personal interpretations of love culminating in a stunning display of work. Juror Diana Kerr of East Boothbay selected 73 pieces for this show.
Kerr said, “I loved the variety of mixed media and how artists thought outside the box. The works drew me in looking closely to see what the pieces were saying. It opened my eyes to the feeling of love as it is different to everyone: love of things, love of ourselves and expressions of universal love. I was encouraged looking at the broad interpretations of love and found it inspiring. We all need to embrace the universal expression as humans even in times of darkness.”
The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, March 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. Many of the contributing artists will be in the gallery to celebrate this inspirational show. Light refreshments will be provided for this afternoon of lively conversation and art. “Love” opened on Tuesday, Feb. 25 and continues through Saturday, April 5.
