'New Works' new show at River Arts
River Arts in Damariscotta welcomes the public to the opening reception of "New Works" on Saturday, April 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. This uplifting exhibition, which opened April 8, will engage visitors in an exciting showcase of vibrant, contemporary art.
"New Works" highlights fresh, spirited pieces by Maine artists, radiating warmth and color in a diverse range of mediums, styles, and perspectives. New Works runs April 8 through May 24.
Juror Susan Akers curated "New Works," and explained her selection process, “Initially, I went with my gut reaction and then I looked at color, pattern, form, depth and technique. The result is a visual cornucopia.”
"New Works" captures a current vibe that celebrates the artists’ recent creativity. Connect with the many of the artists at the opening; learn about the inspirations behind their work and the creative journeys that shaped each piece.
River Arts also highlights artist Beth Downey in the River Room. Downey’s beautifully installed show weaves landscape paintings and non-objective paintings together in a surprising and harmonious tapestry. An opening reception of Downey’s show "On the Edge" will be held simultaneously.
See both shows at River Arts located at 36 Elm Street in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the website at riverartsme.org or call 207-563-6868 for more information.
