New Year's resolution: Enter your pixels
Promise, pledge, oath, vow, resolve, determination, all words that could be substituted for a New Year's resolution, but resolution to a photographer is a celebration of detail, and detailed instructions for submissions to the 2014 Maine Photography Show (MPS) are available now at www.mainephotographyshow.com for all interested Maine photographers.
The MPS 2014 exhibition will be at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation gallery located at 1 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor from Saturday, April 12 to Friday, May 2.
The Maine Photography Show awards cash prizes to the first four places in each category and for Best of Show.
The categories for consideration include Color, Black and White, Student and Special Theme; 2014's special theme is Flowers. Although B&W, Color and Flowers might not need too much definition, the Student category stands alone.
A Student submission is defined as a photographic image in any of the show's categories, photographed by a person age 18 or under. The show committee urges anyone 18 and under to enter as a student.
“The student category is judged separately,” MPS chairman Bruce Burnham said. “A student entry can be any type of photograph — black and white, color or special theme. And like the other categories, a student can enter up to three images in any combination of categories.”
- Submissions, entry fees and photos for judging must be received no later than midnight, January 24.
- Photos must be in jpeg format
- All entrants whose work(s) is selected for the show has until the end of March to submit his or her photo(s) as a framed print(s)
