River Arts call to artists for ‘Black, White, Grey’ exhibition
River Arts, a nonprofit art center on Route 1 in Damariscotta, invites Maine artists to submit work for the upcoming “Black, White, Grey” juried exhibition. The exhibition dates are January 24 through February 20 with an opening reception Friday, Jan. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Submissions of work not previously shown at River Arts can be in one color or any combination of the three. Art should be dropped off by Friday, Jan. 17 or Saturday, Jan. 18, but will be accepted earlier during regular gallery hours. Jurying will be on Sunday, Jan. 19.
All media, styles and subjects are welcome. All work entered must be for sale. Wall-hung work size maximum: 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width, and for safety reasons plexiglass or other non-glass option should be used for work over 34 inches, excluding pastels. Artists may submit up to three works for an entry fee of $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision. Entry forms are available online at www.riverartsme.org and at the gallery when submitting.
Bob Keyes, Visual and Performing Arts Feature Writer for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram will be the juror of the exhibit.Keyes has written about the arts in Maine since 2002. Keyes has also written about arts and entertainment for the Argus Leader of Sioux Falls, S.D., and has worked for newspapers in Connecticut and Georgia. He began his professional career at the Central Maine Morning Sentinel in Waterville, after graduating from the University of Georgia. Keyes grew up in suburban Boston, and lives in Berwick with his partner, Victoria Lloyd.
