Celtic Week
Under Currach Tavern will host a Celtic Celebration Week September 18 to September 22 at 93 Townsend Ave. in Boothbay Harbor.
Festivities will include a full week of Irish food, live Irish music, an Irish whiskey tasting, and raffles with Irish themed prizes.
The week’s events will culminate on Saturday night with a late traditional Irish breakfast being served immediately following The Fighting Jamesons concert at The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor (from 10:30 p.m. until closing).
Free raffle tickets will be distributed all week, with drawings to be held throughout Friday evening. Prizes will also be given for correct Irish trivia answers. The prize list includes Guinness and Jameson shirts and premiums, Fighting Jamesons shirts and CDs, and the grand prize of a Celtic Evening for Two, which includes appetizers, dinner, dessert and coffee, two tickets to the Fighting Jamesons show at the Opera House, and the traditional Irish breakfast after the show.
Under Currach’s menu regularly includes Irish fare, but will be full-on Irish during Celtic Week, including Salmon Colcannon, Scallops St. Brendan, Guinness Stew, Bangers and Mash, Shepherd’s Pie and more. Under Currach’s Celtic Week schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, Sept. 18, 7 p.m. – traditional Irish music session with Celtic Friends (Tamora, David, Nathaniel, Alden and many more)
- Wednesday, Sept. 19, 6 to 9 p.m. – Irish Whiskey tasting and information session (including Jameson’s, Bushmill’s, Clontarf, Red Breast and Tullamore Dew)
- Thursday, Sept. 20, 7 p.m. – Paul D’Alessio & Tori on Irish Fiddle, Flute & Bodhran
- Friday, Sept. 21, 5 to 9 p.m. – raffles, giveaways and Irish trivia; 7 p.m. Curlew Irish Reels, Jigs & Hornpipes, featuring Tamora, David and Alden on traditional Irish instruments
- Saturday, Sept. 22, 5 to 8 p.m. – Gypsy Jim & Sa Rah; 8 p.m., The Fighting Jamesons at The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor; 10:30 p.m. to closing, traditional Irish breakfast
