River Arts seeks art for "Down on the Farm" exhibition
Artists are invited to submit work for jurying into the River Arts “Down on the Farm” exhibition, which will run May 30 through June 19. The opening reception will be held on Friday, May 30 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Artists are encouraged to submit up to three works in any medium and that deals with farm life: inhabitants, equipment, landscape, architecture, etc. Works can be delivered anytime the gallery is open, but no later than 4 p.m. on May 24. All work entered must be for sale. Artist entry fees are $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
Wall-hung work size maximum: 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width. For safety reasons, plexiglass or other non-glass option should be used for work over 34 inches, excluding pastels.
Kerstin Engman is the juror for the exhibition. Engman exhibits at the Arden Gallery, Boston, and the Courthouse Gallery, Ellsworth, and other venues. She received her master’s degree from University of Pennsylvania, where she studied with Neil Welliver, and her bachelor’s degree from Maine College of Art, with additional study at Rhode Island School of Design. She is presently on the faculty of the University of Maine.
Engman brings a rich and broad career in painting, drawing, sculpture and digital media to the juror’s role. In her work she explores varied visions, media, materials and genres. In 1997, she became founder and director of Project Kalocsa, a cultural exchange between Hungary and the United States. Engman has also worked in arts education in Maine schools and in several New England colleges, including Maine College of Art.

Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision. Submissions may not have been shown at River Arts previously. Entry forms are available online at www.riverartsme.org and at the gallery when submitting.
