Rep. Tim Marks, D-Pittston, received a perfect rating for the 126th Legislature from Maine Conservation Voters for his votes supporting Maine’s natural resources-based economy.

“As a part-time logger and lifelong sportsman, I’m committed to smart conservation,” said Marks. “I want to protect opportunities for hunting, fishing and recreation for my kids and their kids. A lot of people’s jobs depend on us taking good care of our state’s natural resources.”

The statewide group took into account 13 key bills from the 126th legislature. The measures address several areas, including metallic mining rules; food hubs to support school nutrition and the local foods economy; lake protections; investment in clean water infrastructure; timber harvesting on public lands; the reopening of the St. Croix River to alewives; wind power siting; the labeling of genetically modified food and seed stock; protection from toxic chemicals for children and pregnant women; and a paint recycling program.

Marks, a member of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, is serving his first term in the legislature and represents Wiscasset, Alna, Dresden and Pittston.
