‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ broadcast live at Lincoln Theater
The fastest-selling production in the Young Vic’s history, Tennessee Williams’ timeless masterpiece, “A Streetcar Named Desire,” will be broadcast live from their London home by National Theatre Live to Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater on Tuesday, Sept.16. The performance will be screened live as it takes place in London at 2 p.m., eastern time. It will then be rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
Headlining the cast as Blanche DuBois is Gillian Andrerson (of “X-Files” fame) and Ben Foster (“Lone Survivor,” “Kill Your Darlings”) as Stanley. Vanessa Kirby (BBC’s “Great Expectations,” “Three Sisters at the Young Vic”) portrays Blanche's sister, Stella. The play is directed by Benedict Andrews, winner of a Critic's Circle award for his production, “Three Sisters.”
As Blanche’s fragile world crumbles, she turns to her sister Stella for solace — but her downward spiral brings her face to face with the brutal, unforgiving Stanley Kowalski.
Tickets are $15/adults, $13/theater members and $5/youth 18 and under. Purchase tickets in advance by calling the box office at 207-563-3424 during office hours, Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the performances.
