Dresden truck-pole crash knocks out power
Parts of Call’s Hill Road and nearby roads in Dresden lost power and traffic was slowed after a northbound pickup truck hit a power pole, shortly before 11 a.m. Sept. 7.
Dresden’s Stacy Lund, the driver and lone occupant of a 2001 GMC 1500 pickup, was wearing his seat belt and was not hurt in Sunday’s accident, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Bridgham said at the scene. The truck was going slow when Lund apparently became distracted by something in the cab of the truck and the vehicle struck the pole, Bridgham said.
The pole appeared to be aging, which, combined with the truck’s size, may have contributed to the pole’s damage, Bridgham said.
The Dresden Fire Department helped with traffic control.
Central Maine Power’s website at www.cmpco.com showed that 20 customers on Call’s Hill, Beech Ridge, County and Orchard Hill roads were without power following the accident. All had power back by about 4 p.m. Sunday.
