Sheriff's report
Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On June 10, Cody A. Brown, 23, of Boothbay, was issued a summons for operating an unregistered motor vehicle – expired more than 150 days, on Country Club Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Scott Hayden.
On June 13, Deputy Matthew Day took a report of a theft in the Newcastle area where cash (approximately $500) was taken from a residence that is under construction.
On June 14, Deputy Justin Drake responded to a report of theft of electronics in the Westport Island area. Total value of the electronics stolen is approximately $776. Further investigation if leads develop.
Recent arrests
On June 11, Thomas A. Townsend, 51, of Jefferson, was arrested on a warrant out of Lincoln County for failure to appear on an operating after suspension charge, at the Lincoln County Courthouse, Wiscasset, by Deputy Mark Bridgham.
Recent accidents
On June 9, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Maryellen Mariano, 55, of West Bath, and Henry M. Landemare, 80, of Boothbay. Mariano was backing her 2008 Subaru Outback from Bet’s Fish Fry onto Route 27 and struck Landemare’s 2006 Dodge Dakota, which was traveling on the roadway. Reserve Deputy Jennifer Sherman was the investigating officer.
On June 13, an accident occurred on Knickerbocker Road in Boothbay involving Leo W. Barter, Jr., 40, of Boothbay. Barter was operating his 2002 Subaru Legacy southbound when his vehicle drifted off the right side of the roadway, travelled into a ditch, and then struck a tree on the passenger side. The impact then forced his vehicle back across the travel lane and into a ditch on the left side of the roadway. Deputy Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On June 16, an accident occurred on Dover Road in Boothbay involving Sophia M. Swain-Stark, 19, of Boothbay. Swain-Stark was operating her 1993 Chevrolet westbound when she failed to negotiate a sweeping right hand turn. As a result, her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, causing front end damage. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.
On June 16, an accident occurred on Back River Road in Boothbay involving Brandon T. Cookson, 22, of Boothbay. Cookson’s 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee drifted off the roadway, hit the shoulder, crossed a driveway, hit a mailbox, went into a ditch and ended up on its roof. Deputy Amber Jeskey was the investigating officer.
On June 17, an accident occurred on Bog Road in Dresden involving Emily A. Cowing, 20, of Wiscasset, and Michael W. Coombs, 54, of Alna. Cowing was backing her 2007 Hyundai Elantra out of a driveway and onto Bog Road. Coombs pulled his 2002 Chevrolet onto Bog Road from Blinn Hill Road when Cowing pulled into his travel lane. As a result, Coombs pulled to the left to avoid Cowing’s vehicle. This caused Coombs’ vehicle to drive into a ditch and scrape a utility pole. Det. Robert McFetridge was the investigating officer.
