BRAF’s 'Art in the Square' continues into the new year
Our wonderful community of local artists and the presence of loyal fans have all contributed to a successful first weekend of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation's (BRAF) annual Art in the Square exhibition. And to keep viewers on their toes, new works are arriving every day. At this time, the exhibit has 140 squares on view. This translates into 20,160 square inches of eye candy!
New canvases are always welcome, so pick up a blank canvas at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) gallery.
BRAF will be participating in the Harbor Light festivities on Saturday, Dec. 6, opening at 10 a.m. The opening reception for Art in the Square will be held later, from 4-6 p.m. with refreshments.
Each unique and colorful 12 by 12-inch square is $100, $25 of which is appropriated for BRAF’s two annual high school scholarship awards and the K-12 Art Show.
The Art Foundation also sponsors museum passes to the Portland Museum of Art and The Farnsworth Museum in Rockland. These passes are available all year at the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library and may be used for families or individuals.
BRAF’s mission is to serve our community by creating opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy, learn from and participate in the visual arts. Enabling one’s ability to create and/or view art first hand is accomplished at all levels through the purpose behind Art in the Square.
Gallery hours are Fridays through Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by chance during the week — whenever the welcome flag is flying.
The Boothbay Region Art Foundation is located at 1 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor. For more information, call the gallery at 207-633-2703. Visit us online at www.boothbayartists.org.
