Alleged underage sexual contact leads to seven charges
A Damariscotta man has been arrested and charged with seven misdemeanor counts of unlawful sexual touching after allegedly touching an underage girl for years.
Randall S. Main, 42, of Damariscotta, was arrested Dec. 20 by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and charged with seven counts of unlawful sexual touching.
The charges stem from incidents that allegedly took place in Waldoboro during the summer.
Main is accused of inappropriately touching the victim when when she was 16 years old in the summer and fall of 2014.
On Nov. 26, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Scott Hayden spoke with the victim and her mother after being referred by the Department of Health and Human Services.
The victim said the behavior allegedly began six years ago, but ceased during the summer of 2014.
When Hayden interviewed Main, Main allegedly said the victim was making the claims to break-up a relationship he was in, and that he had never done anything to hurt the girl.
Main was arrested on a warrant on Dec. 19 by Deputy Brian Collamore on behalf of Hayden and charged with seven counts of Class D unlawful sexual touching. Class D crimes are punishable by up to 364 days in jail and up to a $2,000 fine.
