Warren man, two from Massachusetts arrested in interstate drug trafficking investigation
WARREN, WISCASSET and NEWCASTLE — A three-month investigation of illegal distribution and possession of prescription drugs from Massachusetts into Lincoln and Knox counties resulted this week in the arrest of a Warren man and a pair from Pittsfield, Mass.
In a press release Tuesday evening, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said it arrested 36-year-old Robert Colpritt of Warren, and 37-year-old Allen Cooper and 33-year-old Amanda Restel, both of Pittsfield, Mass.
Colpritt and Cooper were charged with trafficking in schedule W drugs (Oxycodone), a class B crime, and Restel was charged with trafficking in schedule W drugs (suboxone), a class D crime.
According to the release, MDEA agents Monday afternoon conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in Newcastle and allegedly found Cooper in possession of 90 Oxycodone pills.
"Cooper would routinely travel to Maine from Massachusetts with Oxycodone and would deliver the drugs to his distributors in the Midcoast, collect his profits and return to Massachusetts," said the MDEA in the release.
While agents were arrested Cooper, they were also searching a Wiscasset motel room and his girlfriend, Restel, who was arrested after allegedly being found in illegal possession of suboxone.
An additional search of the home of Colpritt on Tolman Road allegedly yielded 22 Oxycodone pills, an undisclosed amount of suboxone and numerous other unspecified medications.
Colpritt, Cooper and Restel were transported to Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset to await a bail hearing.
Assisting MDEA agents were the Maine State Police, Wiscasset Police and Sheriff's deputies with Lincoln and Knox counties.
