Now is the time to get your HiSET diploma
The Learning Center at Boothbay Region Adult Ed began the winter/spring semester on Tuesday, Jan. 20. The Learning Center is available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m.
The Learning Center not only provides HiSET high school equivalency diploma prep, but also adult literacy, college prep, and help with English, math, science or social studies skills. These services are free, and there is no fee to take the HiSET test.
As of Jan. 1, 2015 your GED scores can no longer be applied toward a HiSET high school equivalency diploma.
However, it's not too late to earn your high school diploma. The current HiSET exam is a paper based tests in the same subject areas as the GED: reading, writing, science, social studies and math. Most instruction in the Learning Center is individualized according to student need.
Did you know people with a high school diploma can expect to earn $10,000 more per year than someone without a diploma? Having a high school equivalency diploma can open doors to college, new job opportunities and careers.
