Wiscasset Public Library elects new board of trustees
The Wiscasset Public Library held its annual meeting Jan. 25 in the library on High Street, and elected a new board of trustees. Reelected to continue as officers of the Board of Trustees were Wendy Ross-Eichler as president, Susan Blagden as vice president, Tom Boudin as treasurer and Linda Winterberg as secretary.
Year-end reports by Library Director Pam Dunning and Children's Librarian Natalie Castonia indicate that the library was a busy place during the year, holding many events, including author discussions and a very successful summer reading program for children.
Board President Ross-Eichler said this has been a good year for the library.
"(The board of trustees) worked to ensure that the library continued to update its technology, its collection and the public's ability to access the collections of this and other libraries,” Ross-Eichler said.
Library Director Dunning said the library had been heavily used this past year, noting that the library has replaced old outdated computers with new ones that work much better.
Regarding the collection of books, she said books you hold in your hand are still very popular in this digital age, although the library, she added, also has a large collection of digital and audio books. She thanked all who had volunteered for the library during the year and said volunteers are always needed and welcomed.
