All-Ireland fiddle champion Eileen Ivers at Opera House July 6
Eileen Ivers has changed the way people think about the violin. She's the nine-time All-Ireland fiddle champion and has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops and with the National Symphony at the Kennedy Center.
Grammy-winning Ivers was an original musical star of Riverdance; she's played with The Chieftains, Sting, Hall & Oates, Patti Smith, Al DiMeola and was a founding member of Cherish the Ladies. She has performed for presidents and royalty worldwide and she is the pre-eminent exponent of the Irish fiddle in the world today.
On Friday, July 6, Eileen Ivers and her band, Immigrant Soul, will perform at the historic Opera House in Boothbay Harbor.
Ivers has been called a "sensation" by Billboard magazine and "the Jimi Hendrix of the violin" by the New York Times. "She electrifies the crowd with a dazzling show of virtuoso playing" says The Irish Times. Her credits include over 80 contemporary and traditional albums and numerous movie scores including "The Gangs of New York." She is hailed as one of the great innovators and pioneers in the Celtic and World music genres.
