Spring is the thing at Story Hour
Spring, where are you? March 20 on the calender declares that spring has arrived, but everyone at the Wiscasset Public Library’s story hour are still looking for it. The book "Finding Spring" by Carin Berger was a perfect fit to how we are all feeling about eagerly awaiting the new warmer season. We also read "Spring Thaw" by Steven Schur and "And Then It’s Spring” by Julie Fogliano.
On the last page of "Spring Thaw," there is a small purple crocus poking out of a patch of snow. With that inspiration, we made our own crocus on paper with potatoes and acrylic paint. The potatoes were cut in half and trimmed at the top to look like flower petals. Then dipped in colors purple, pink, orange and light blue paint, we were able to find spring flowers here in the children’s room at the Wiscasset Public Library.
Story hour is every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wiscasset Public Library, which is located at 21 High Street. All good listeners are welcome to enjoy a few stories and an activity to follow.
